Annual Tree-Lighting Marks a Colorful Opening to Holidays

What:
A festive holiday tree lighting on the grounds of LVH-Pocono in East Stroudsburg heralds the 2018 local holiday season in an evening of dazzling decorations and merry music. The event is a joint effort of LVHN-Pocono Foundation, the Rotary Club of the Smithfields and members of the community. An exciting countdown signals the moment when the tree glows with dozens of colorful bulbs, but those pinpoints of light have a much deeper significance: Each red, green and white bulb represents a donation to aid children in Monroe County, and this year’s total is $11,500. Special guests include Master of Ceremonies Gary Smith “Gary in the Morning” from Pocono 96.7, LVHN hospital representatives, Rotary Club of the Smithfields and of course, Santa. Entertainment is courtesy of: • JM Hill Elementary School Chorus • Stroudsburg Intermediate School Chorus • East Stroudsburg HS – North Chorus • Pleasant Valley HS Brass Holiday Band Representatives of the eight recipient organizations will also be part of the festivities: 1. Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Monroe 2. Clymer Library Association 3. Family Promise of Monroe County 4. The Garden of Giving 5. Melon’s Gift, Inc. 6. Pocono Alliance, Inc. 7. Pocono Family YMCA 8.
