CHAMBER OF COMMERCE COMMITTEES

 

 

ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT/TRANSPORTATION COMMITTEE:

Enhances the Pocono business climate, by improving the area’s transportation infrastructure. The Committee avidly supports economic growth consistent with the best interests of the community.

 

EDUCATION COMMITTEE:

Consistent with the goals and objectives of the Chamber of Commerce, promote all phases of career education and training.  In any one year, this will include some of the following:  career reference systems, cooperative partnerships, continuing education, mid-career changes, field trips, school career days, work force re-entry, coordinate available training programs, career awareness, special events, career counseling, lectures, tutoring and goal setting.  Through appropriate process, recognize outstanding achievement by individuals in the community and area deemed relevant by the education committee.  Promote the needs of youth and other age groups as they relate to the field of education.

 

GOLF COMMITTEE:

To assist in the planning and promotion of the Chamber’s Annual Golf Tournament

 

GOVERNMENT AFFAIRS/PUBLIC POLICY COMMITTEE:

Keep abreast of legislative issues on local, state, and national levels.  Select those issues having an impact bearing on our business and membership.  After appropriate committee action, present issues to board for acceptance, rejection, tabling, or no additional action.  Insure that appropriate legislators, and/or legislative bodies are made aware of Chamber action.  Lobby in behalf of action taken. The committee advises the Chamber Board of Directors on public policy issues that impact Chamber members and our community.

 

HEALTH & WELLNESS COMMITTEE:

Assist businesses in creating and maintaining a culture of physical and mental health that can benefit employees, employers and the larger community. Goals are to provide productive networking opportunities for committee; support the education of Chamber members on how to establish and maintain a culture of healthy living; and to encourage individual responsibility for health and wellness.

 

MEMBERSHIP COMMITTEE:

Promote membership in the Chamber and member retention.  Conduct events as necessary promoting advantages of membership. Refer targeted potential new members and groups to the Membership Director for contact. Assist in developing criteria for acceptance and/or rejection of members.  Represent Chamber and greet new members at events.  Present new members to board at monthly board meetings.

 

SOCIAL MEDIA/INTERNET COMMITEE:

Develop and maintain social media sites for the chamber including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc. The committee would also review and assist with updating the chamber website.

 

SPECIAL EVENTS COMMITTEE:

Develop a list of events for the year, and assist in the execution of new events for chamber members. The events would include both fundraisers for the chamber of commerce and other non-profits as well as free events.

 

WEST END COMMITTEE:

Promotes prosperity and membership in Monroe County’s West End region, through the Chamber’s mission and objectives

 

WOMEN IN BUSINESS COMMITTEE:

Promote the interest of women who are participating in the free enterprise system in the Pocono area and provide political, educational, financial, and legal information to the women.  Also, assist and encourage concerned members to enhance the quality and capability of their respective enterprises and to interact through business and social opportunities.

 

YOUNG PROFESSIONALS COMMITTEE:

This is for emerging and established young professionals. The goals are to focus on professionalism, leadership and community service, to cultivate and promote career growth and to provide a professional arena for ages 21-40. The committee will plan networking opportunities as well as community projects that solve a problem/issue.
